Rozay-en-Brie is a commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. It is located 36.5 km (22.7 mi) east of Melun.
The town is twinned with Hoddesdon in the United Kingdom.
Rozay-en-Brie was first recorded in the 9th century as Rosacium, and was later known as Rosati or Rosacia. The name derived from the Latin for “dewberry bush”, which grew in the area.
The town is best known for its château, which was built in the 13th century and is now a museum. It was the seat of the dukes of Rozay, who were vassals of the Counts of Champagne.
The château was badly damaged in the French Wars of Religion and was restored in the 19th century.
