Alei Zahav is a West Bank settlement located in the northern part of the West Bank, south of the city of Nablus. It is part of the Shomron Regional Council.
The settlement was established in 1977 by a group of families from the nearby settlement of Elon Moreh. They were joined by families from other parts of Israel, as well as new immigrants from the United States.
The population of Alei Zahav is currently about 1,500. The majority of the residents are religious Jews.
The settlement is located in an area that is considered to be of strategic importance by the Israeli military. It is close to the Palestinian cities of Jenin and Tulkarem, as well as the Israeli city of Ariel.
The settlement has been the target of Palestinian attacks in the past. In 2002, a Palestinian suicide bomber killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded several others in an attack on an IDF checkpoint near Alei Zahav.
