Agnetz is a commune in the Oise department in northern France. It is located on the right bank of the Oise River, about 10 kilometers southwest of Compiègne. The commune includes the hamlets of Chenevières, Fontaine-sous-Jouy, Grouches-Luchuel, and Thury-sous-Clermont.

The name Agnetz is derived from the Latin word for “lamb”, agnus. The town’s coat of arms features a lamb holding a flag.

The first record of the town dates back to the 9th century, when it was known as Anetium. In 1067, the town was given to the Abbey of Saint-Corneille by Count Baldwin V of Flanders.

The town’s market was established in 1226 by Louis IX. The annual fair was held on the Feast of the Assumption (August 15), and attracted visitors from all over Europe.

In the 14th century, Agnetz was ravaged by the Black Death. In 1544, the town was burned by the troops of Charles V.
